Hi! We will start our Fall Clinics this Saturday at 9:30 at the Girls Grass field at Sheehan, next to the softball field. Our back-up field is Highland right next door in case a team that out-ranks us (maybe a Sheehan high School team) is on our field. Please try to arrive by 9:30, but no need to arrive much earlier than that. We'll try to have an introductory talk with players and parents at about 9:45. We end at 11:00
Notices about any changes, including last-minute cancellations will be emailed and texted to you, but also posted on our team page on the WYL web site under Teams / 2021 Fall Lacrosse / Girls Clinic. We have 25 players signed up so far, and would love to have as many as possible. Spread the word, and players can show up at any time during the season, even if they missed the first sessions - rolling admission!
We have players from K to grade 8, so we will split up often by age and/or ability. New players usually catch up to the experienced ones pretty quickly.
Masks are optional, however: We encourage masks on the sidelines and usually don't wear them on the field of play, but this is a moving target. We definitely have had players wear masks on the field without any problems. At the moment the rule is for you to do what you are comfortable with, and we will encourage reasonable social distancing when possible.
Please bring eye goggles, a stick, mouthguard and cleats (sneakers work fine as well). For a jersey, please wear a dark (like navy blue) or a light (like white) shirt or a reversible. That makes it easy to split into offense/defense or into two teams. We do have a few items to borrow if you are missing something.
We are low-key, and we like to have fun. We have some good coaches including current WYL girls coaches, many of whom are former players, and we have some current high school players coming as well. We love parent involvement in terms of helping with the team, the league, or coaching, even if you have never played.
See you tomorrow!
