Girls Youth and High School Programs General Information

(updated 1/29/23)

Girls Lacrosse is growing quickly on a national, and now a local level.  Enthusiasm has been high, and our program is growing fast.  WYL played its first season for Girls in the spring of 2009.

Youth Program:

Next Fall (2023), WYL will have free clinics for Youth and High School Girls.  You don't have to live in Wallingford to participate.  Register on this web site.

This Spring (2023), Wallingford Youth Lacrosse will run its 15th season of competitive youth lacrosse for Girls. This program is for Middle School and Elementary School players who meet our age and grade requirement shown on our web site (generally K – 8th grade).  Practices start in mid-March, and the season ends in mid-June. There will be approximately three practices or games each week, (days to be determined). Many of our players also play softball, soccer or dance, and we are tolerant of conflicting schedules. Practices and home games will be local; away games will mostly be in nearby towns like Cheshire, North Haven, Branford, Guilford, Shelton, Southington and Hamden.  On Line Registration is in the Fall and Winter. We will have a uniform sizing and parent information session before the season starts. We will open registration for the Spring Season soon.

Fees and Equipment. The fee to participate is reasonable and uniforms are recycled from year to year when possible.  Each player must supply her own protective equipment, including a stick, eye mask, mouth guard, gloves (optional), cleats (optional/recommended), & water bottle. Our team colors are navy, white and maroon, There is a section on our website for equipment suppliers in our area.  Each participant must also become a member of US Lacrosse, which is our insurance carrier, and you will be asked for your number or to get a number when you register for any of our programs. A youth membership is $25 a year, and you also receive a subscription to Lacrosse Magazine. Enroll instantly online at www.uslacrosse.orgFinancial assistance is available through the league treasurer and through this web site.

Participants do not have to be Wallingford residents. Wallingford Youth Lacrosse is open to players from any town that does not already have a youth program such as Durham and Middlefield, and we currently have many such players on our rosters.  Please ask us if you have a special situation.  We want to work with you.

We need volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, and off-the-field volunteers - no experience necessary!  We will teach you what you need to know.
